The Town of Clarkson is accepting applications for the Board of Assessment Review (BAR).
The BAR members (minimum of three), together with the Assessor, hear resident complaints regarding property assessments on Grievance Day each year.
Term: 5 years.
Requirements and details: Annual training in April is required (paid). Grievance Day, a 1–2 day commitment at the end of May, is required (paid). Applicants must be residents of the Town of Clarkson. Knowledge of property values is preferred.

The Towns of Clarkson and Sweden are seeking a qualified individual to serve as Full-time Town Assessor in a shared-services arrangement.
Salary Range: $70,000 – $90,000 annually, plus benefits.
Responsibilities include: Valuation and assessment of real property in accordance with NYS Real Property Tax Law, preparation and maintenance of annual assessment rolls, administration of exemptions, attendance at Board of Assessment Review hearings, supervision of assessment staff, and related duties.
Qualifications: NYS Assessor certification required (or ability to obtain), NYS IAO Membership, knowledge of real property appraisal and assessment practices, strong organizational, communication, and public service skills, municipal assessment experience preferred. This is a non-competitive civil service position.
