The NYS Canal System opens on May 17 for the 2024 navigation season with no tolls or fees for recreational use.
Exciting updates include:
– Erie Canalway Bicentennial Marketing Toolkit available for municipalities, nonprofits, tourism agencies, and businesses
– 2024 Canalway Challenge is underway for walking, hiking, cycling, rolling, or paddling the canals
– NYS Canalway Water Trail Stewardship Program in its 4th year with 75+ volunteers covering nearly 410 miles
– Amenities study being conducted to assess needs along the Erie Canal and trail
– Replica canal boat Seneca Chief launching in Buffalo on May 7 with a grand celebration on May 25
– NY Delegation attending 2024 World Canals Conference in Poland to invite attendees to Buffalo in 2025
