Exciting news: Hafner Park is being redesigned!
In 2022, through the revision of its Comprehensive Plan, the Town of Clarkson identified a recurring issue: its parks were being underutilized. Prompted by the sentiments expressed by the people of Clarkson, the Town Board swiftly embarked on a mission to transform these spaces into vibrant community assets. The first priority is Hafner Park, envisioned to become the heart of Clarkson’s future town campus.
The redesign dream started in November 2023, when we were awarded the Environmental Protection Fund Planning Grant through the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Hstoric Preservation (OPRHP). The purpose of the grant was to complete a comprehensive planning project including a feasibility study, public outreach, a public interest survey, and initial concept design, to outline potential improvements that could be made to Hafner Park to enhance utilization of the space.
Below are documents that were part of the process, including the recently completed and approved Feasibility Study and Concept Plan design of the park. Take a look! We think you will be pleased. The Town is now investigating funding opportunities to facilitate the project’s progression through planning, design, and eventually construction. Stay tuned for updates!
