The Planning Board is tasked with site plan review, making determinations on special use permit applications, and performing sub-division reviews. The Town Board may seek recommendations from the Planning Board, and the Planning Board may make recommendations to the Town Board regarding any area in their jurisdiction. Board meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 7PM. May, June, July and August at 6PM.

Zoning Board of Appeals
The Zoning Board is in charge of deciding Area Variance and Use Variance applications and interpreting the Zoning Code. The Board of Appeals meets on the first and third Wednesday of each month at 7PM.

Environmental Conservation Board
This Board’s overall intent is to preserve the town’s natural environment and control impacts on the surrounding neighborhood while balancing Clarkson’s need for an economically viable and environmentally sustainable future. It considers environmental issues and factors affecting development for site-plan approvals and open space development, and makes recommendations to the Planning Board consistent with NY State’s Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA). The Board also strives to ensure all projects are consistent with the Town of Clarkson’s Comprehensive Plan. Members serve three-year terms on a board of four. Meetings are at Town Hall, generally on the second Wednesday of each month at 6:00 PM.

Board of Assessment Review
This Board is the hearing body for residents who file grievances regarding the assessed value placed on their property. After hearing the grievance through the formal hearing process, the Board of Assessment Review has the authority to accept or deny the taxpayer’s grievance. When accepting an assessment grievance, the Board does have the authority to set a new assessment on the property. Appointed by the Town Board, the Board of Assessment Review consists of residents who have a general knowledge of property values in the community and does not include the assessor or staff from the Assessor’s Office.

The Clarkson Historical Preservation Commission’s purpose is to preserve the Town’s historic resources and potentially designate new properties. The board meets once a month on the first Monday at 6:45 pm.
